Once your session date is confirmed, a little preparation on your end helps everything run smoothly — for you and for your baby. Here’s what actually matters.
Room Temperature
Newborns are photographed in minimal clothing for many poses, so the room needs to be noticeably warmer than usual — around 25–27°C. We recommend closing doors and, if possible, pre-warming the room an hour before we arrive.
Feeding Timing
A full, sleepy baby is the easiest baby to photograph. Feed as close to our arrival time as practical, and let us know your baby’s typical feeding window so we can plan pauses into the session.
What to Have Ready
- A recently laundered, unscented blanket or wrap you’d like included (optional — we bring a full set too)
- Any sentimental items you’d like featured: a hospital bracelet, a family heirloom, a soft toy
- A tidy, clutter-free corner of a room with a power outlet nearby — this is all the space we need
What You Don’t Need to Do
You do not need to deep-clean your home, buy new outfits, or have a “photo-ready” nursery. We bring backdrops, wraps, and props, and we work entirely within a small footprint of whichever room is warmest and quietest.
On the Day
Sessions typically run 2–3 hours to leave room for feeding, settling, and changing between setups — there’s no need to rush. For the full picture of what to expect from start to finish, see our complete newborn photography guide, or read more about choosing the right timing for your session.
